PROJECT BRIEF

D030921 - Rte 110/NSP is a fully reconfigured, modern modified diamond interchange. The interchange was completely reconstructed from an outdated cloverleaf design to a more efficient modified diamond interchange to improve safety and traffic flow. The major reconstruction project, which cost approximately $60 million, was completed in late 2013/early 2014. As part of the project, Route 110 was widened to include three full travel lanes in each direction through the interchange area. The old Northern State Parkway bridge over Route 110 was demolished and replaced with a new structure that offers improved vertical clearance for trucks. Granite from the old, historic bridge was reused in the new one to maintain its classic Robert Moses-era aesthetic. The project enhanced safety by reconfiguring entrance and exit ramps to meet current standards, adding new drainage systems, installing a continuous sidewalk network and a shoulder lane for bicyclists, and upgrading the nearby intersection with Old Country Road.
